Recently acquired this cartridge, when I look it up it seems to be a Radio Shack-branded Shure-manufactured M75. My question is about the Shure RS-5E (I'm assuming "RS" indicating Radio Shack, I can't find tracking force info. Anyone have any info? I'm assuming it's high compliance similar to other Shure stylii but any info would be greatly appreciated.

I'm looking through online old Radio Shack catalogs. Minimally, the VTF would be 0.75-1.50 grams. I bet Wolfie62 knows. In the meantime, I will keep looking.

1.5 to 3.0g, according to the 1979 catalog. 4x7 elliptical. M75 family.

Here's the chart. Oddly, the 1980 catalog omits this and other important info.

I never could easily remember Radio Shack cartridge models. I owned a number of them decades ago as there was a Radio Shack store within walking distance from my home back then.

The RS stylus lists don't ever seem to contain much info for previous models as wualta mentioned.

The compliance is dependent entirely on the stylus assembly. Shures that track at 1.5-3 are 0.000020 cm per dyne of force
That's the challenge, I find some information for the cartridge with it's original stylus, but none for the Shure RS-5E that's in it.

Shure made a ton of carts, but only a few different styli. Yours is the same as my R3X, a 4x7 elliptical, and those all tracks at 1.5-3g. Not a bad sounding stylus IMHO.

Good info except the 3x is 2-4 grams as is n75ec. I use the shurecross also but there are mistakes in it. 5x is 1.75-2.25, I have one and the card it came on. Shurecross says 1.5-3. The RS X stylus will fit flat and v bottom shures and are the same as the Shure ndc and ne95 stylus, just different colors. The 5x is light green, like the Shure ej but an ndc-ej is black as is the ndc-ed. Go figure. They sell n70 stylus for the ndc so all the magnets must align with the pole pieces of all these different cartridges.

This applies to the cartridge, but not necessarily the stylus, would the stylus model have an effect on compliance/tracking force?

Yes. As the M 75 family covered everything from lower compliance, heavier tracking force options (the C heavy duty), to medium tracking force, low side of high compliance in conical and elliptical stylus options, to very light tracking force, high compliance nude elliptical stylus options and lastly, a late HE upgrade option. There's also a 78 stylus option. The most versatile cartridge family Shure ever offered.
