Realistic Receiver

I picked up a Realistic System 11 receiver at a garage sale the other day. The unit will not work when you first turn it on, but after about ten minutes powered up it works fine. Is there a specific reason for this?

I'm sorry I can't help you but damn, looking through that RS catalog brings back memories of drooling over the wish books when I was young. so much cool stuff in there back in the day when rat shack actually carried some nice gear.

I know it's a different receiver but my STA-870 had that issue. When powering up, it won't play until several minutes later. It's related to the capacitor in the circuit that prevents the jfets to allow music flow until the main amp stabilize(usually a few seconds). Not sure if your receiver has that but it's one place to look up.

This could be the problem. The receiver seems to be searching for stations and the display flashes until it "warms" up.
