Realistic STA 2000 Receiver NICE!

Now Off the Reservation
Through some local "horse trading" I aquired a very clean Realistic STA 2000 receiver and I must admit I am smitten by this receiver!

It has a real nice tube sound, an overactive loudness button, super sounding AM/FM, just a great sounding receiver that I did nort expect this kind of quality or fantastic sound from!

I just had to say.....

Congratulations! These were built to high standard by Foster Electronics for RS. I have an STA-2100.....it shares the same traits.....including the overactive loudness button.

Enjoy! You did well on a fairly rare piece.

Best,

Paul :thmbsp:

I had a really nice STA-2000 too. I sold mine off to a guy who had the Mach Ones that were sold with it. Happy to sell it to the right guy, but secretly I wanted to buy his Mach Ones for the amp!

When you say "overactive" loudness, is that the same as variable loudness, or is there something else to it?

Not variable Njord, however it will over-emphasize the bass response. Bada-BOOM. :D LOL don't need it anyway....I like to run them flat.

Best,

Paul :thmbsp:

At what point...

...did Foster stop building receivers for R.S.? I have a STA-2290, but I have no idea who manufactured it.....

I don't know about the 2290. :tears: I know that Foster built the STA-2000, STA-2100 and the STA-2100D. LOL there's lots of folks here that have forgotten more than I know.......hopefully we'll hear from them!
This site is the absolute BEST for good info.

Best,

Paul

Foster made an integrated amp for them in the 70's (with blue meters!) that had a variable loudness control that was nice. It also featured switchable semi-parametric eq and the ability to dub between two tape decks while listening to another source.

Just for the record. Info from Orion.
STA-2000, 1979-83, 75 wpc, $500. Worth the $500 msrp, a huge steal at one of RS's sales, or especially on close-out!
