Realistic sta-2100 fuse question

Some how i managed to blow the protection fuse in the back.
The back of the receiver says to use 8 amp 125 volt fuses. the manual says to use 8 amp fuses, and the fuse in their was soc10assa32v or 10 amps 32 volts.
Which one do I go with? Radioshack doesn't have 8a 125v fuses.
Ok a 10amp 250volt fuse works, weird.

Someone smarter than me will chime in I hope, but I think you want to keep the amp rating the same, but an increase in voltage rating would be okay. In other words an 8A 250V fuse would be the one to go with.

Yep Looks like someone used an automotive fuse in there....Not a good idea for the best protection.

Use the correct current rating fuse and one with a 250 volt rating will be just fine.

Oh and by the way just how did you manage to blow the fuse...

Is it possible that something in the receiver failed and that caused the fuse to blow?

If you are not sure it might be a good idea to use the good old "Dim Bulb" test method when you replace the fuse.

If you are not familiar with the dim bulb tester you can do a search here and find all the info you need.

Oops sorry for the double post...my serve is being weird...

And yes the higher voltage rated fuse will be safe and just fine.

I don't know how I blew it. All I can tell is pink noise running while turning the receiver is a bad idea.

The volt rating is max volt the fuse can open up the circuit it is protecting. If you use a lower volt rating, it is possible and, depending on how low you go, the fuse will arc across and never open, even though the element burns in two. Always go same amp, higher voltage. Never go lower voltage even if you go up an amp or two because you can't find the correct one.
