Realistic STA-84 left volume controlling both channels

Hi, I'm having some issues with my Realistic STA-84 receiver. I bought it used and it's always done this, but I've noticed that the left volume control changes both audio channel volumes. The right one will change the higher frequencies and create a tinny distortion. I'm pairing the matching Realistic Nova 7Bs, and I've also noticed that the higher frequencies are muddied and quiet.
I'm new to audio setups like this and was wondering if anyone had any insight. Thanks!

Also if anyone has the same reciever and would be willing to dimension out the colume slider knobs so I could 3D print a new set, that would be great.

Does it have a stereo and mono setting on the receiver? Have you cleaned all of the pots, switches? On the surface it sounds like it is playing in some derivative of mono. Are you sure you have the speakers wired to right and left A or B speaker blocks, and you haven’t inadvertently hooked them both up to A/B right or A/B left only? Do you get the same results from radio and any external components you have added? I’d definitely pop the top off and clean all controls with Deoxit first if you haven’t done this. Check your wiring, including any rca cables attached. Its a process trial/error or elimination…

Dirty/oxidized pots and switches can do strange things that you wouldn’t necessarily expect. Also try switching the speakers to the opposite R/L channel and see if it reacts the same. This will help you determine if it’s a speaker issue. Hopefully it’s an easy fix! Good luck.

Are you sure you have the speakers wired to right and left A or B speaker blocks

it's easy to miswire when the speaker left and right connections are above each other (like the sta84) vs side by side.

Not trying to be insulting, but the mono switch is "off", yes?
