So I picked up a pair of Realistic T-100 free from a yard sale a couple of years ago. The cabinets look great, although they could use a light sanding and restain. The woofers and tweeters are in great shape and all are working, but they are just underwhelming, so I want to make an econowave project or something out of them.
Internal volume on these is approximately 2.5 cu ft so I was thinking of replacing the tweeter with the Selenium D220Ti attached to a Dayton H6512 6"x12" waveguide (or something similar) and using a 10" Eminence woofer, but after looking at all the specs I have no idea which one would be best for this application, if any. Maybe an Eminence driver isn't even the way to go, maybe an old LE10A would work??
I listen to a pretty broad range of music (Classic Rock, Classical, Jazz, New Age, Choral, Dance) so I want great vocals, piano, cello, but are pretty good going loud with Rush, Journey, Eagles, Toto on occasion without falling apart.
Anyway, the factory crossover is 3.5K and I don't know if that's way too high of a crossover point, or if I should use that or pull it and put something else in there, a 1.6k crossover perhaps.
I'm not looking to be spoon fed, but some suggestions would be very helpful, especially from someone who has made an econowave out of the T-100.
Thanks for the help.
