Realistic TM-1000 SAMS

Does anyone happen to have a SAMS MHF-76? I need the alignment instructions for a
Realistic TM-1000 gold faced tuner. SAMS lists the model as a 311981. The earlier gold faced tuner is different than the later black faced TM-1000.
Thanks.

If it weren't for the Auto Magic auto tune feature not working properly, this would be a pretty nice tuner. When Engaged, it will lock on just off frequency enough that the station sounds fuzzy. It sounds good and even has a decent low end response. It pulls stations in pretty well also using my outdoor antenna.
Other than the one MPX chip it's all decrete components too. I just wish I knew what trimmer or coil to adjust for the Auto Magic tuning. Both schematics I've found were too low resolution to read.

Well, this is certainly not 'science' but this is "the adjustment" that I did when I was having some FM reception problems with my TM-1000.
I put my (proper sized) driver into the coil shown and, marked from the 6 o'clock position, turned it about 1/8 turn CCW (to about 4:30 or 5 o'clock). My reception improved immediately.
Your mileage may vary. Don't break anything. :) Let us know how you make out. Good luck!

Additionally, I don't have the SAMS you requested. But, in the course of servicing both of my TM-1000's I found that the following Realistic receivers had similar Auto-Magic tuner sections:
‘75: STA-225, STA-82
‘76: STA-225, STA-82
‘77: STA-235, STA-84
‘78: STA-235
‘79: STA-235B
‘80: STA-240, STA-800

Thanks! Ill give it a try. I'll also look for schematics and manuals for those other models.
I have noticed that inductor and one other are marked with red on top.

Just be sure to put any back that you changed if they did not make an improvement.

And, if it was me, I'd make a note of EVERYTHING I changed just so I could get it back to starting position.

Good luck!

I always do along with pictures, thanks. I just went through aligning a Dynaco FM3 I had restored sometime back. I had a hard time getting it aligned to begin with, but after replacing a couple weak tubes and tracking down a ground loop, it sounds good now. The FM3 was sold as a kit, so alignment can be done with a meter, the tuning eye tube and your ears. The manual is very thorough. I don't normally mess with tuners other than replace caps and anything else that's needed in the power supply. I just don't have the equipment to do proper alignments or the expertise.

Did you disconnect the tuning meter and attach the wires to a volt meter when you made that adjustment? I juss noticed the alligator clips.

No. Those alligators clips likely belong to another project on the bench.
Technically speaking I, like, turned the driver until the reception improved, and stuff.

I adjusted the inductor you pointed to and that did the trick. The automagic feature will lock on properly now.
Thanks for all your help! I like this little tuner. It has a better bottom end compared to my other tuners and has a nice warm tone.
Back in '75 or so I bought the TM-1000 tuner along with the SA-1000A amplifier, Optimus 2B and 1B speakers. I recapped the SA-1000A and gave it to my youngest son. I still have the Optimus 2B speakers though.

Glad to hear the good news!
I bought my first one new, then sold it about 5-10 years after.
Then, I bought my second one about 10 years ago and my third one shortly after that.
So, I currently have two and love them both!

Glad I stumbled across this thread. I have the same tuner with an SA-2000. It has the same issue.
