I have a stock EPI 100V and a EPI 100 dimensioned speaker box with red-ringed tweeter and original 8" woofer. I also have another tweeter and 8" woofer. In building the EPI 100 copy, I made a few cosmetic mistakes. I would like to try to build a nicer looking pair of speakers.
I would like to see if I could sell the stock EPI 100V, and then build a pair of EPI 150 dimensioned speakers.
I know that the EPI 150 dimensions are 25" x 15" x 11" vs. 21" x 11" x 9" for the EPI 100.
Here's the question: Is the 150 much better sounding than the EPI 100? What is the distance of the top of the tweeter from the top of the speaker? What is the distance from the side of the tweeter to the side of the box? What is the distance of the woofer from the top? (I'm asking because I understand the importance of the placement of these speakers for the quality of the sound.)
If I buy from parts express, what are the best value caps to buy? What about internal baffling? Fiberglass?
Any other items to consider?
Thanks!
Thistle.
