Hello.

I would like to ask your advice about the right model of Nichicon capacitor to renew my tuner. My question is the following. I would like to use the following type of Nichicon CAPs:

UPW (alternatively UPM) for the Power Supply (filter caps after the rectifier bridge)
UES for any bi-polar
UKZ (alternatively UKA) for the audio signal path

I understand that the big filter caps in the PSU is definitely something I'd use UPW/UPM for.

But for example, let's say we have an opamp which is to amplify the analogue audio signal. It has an electrolytic cap connected to both on its pin 4 and 8 (VCC+ VCC-). In this case should I use a "power supply grade" capacitor (UPW) or an "audio grade" capacitor (UKZ/UKA)? It's not directly the "signal path", but the supply voltage for the opamp, so I'd choose UPW here as well... Is my impression correct?

I attached a screenshot as an example... I am asking about C99 and C100 capacitors...

Hello.
Those applications are low voltage and low ripple , they are filtering DC already filtered at the Power Supply. Any general purpose capacitor should work. I'd buy the same series you are getting for the rest of the amp, and I would't think too much about that.

As a general rule of thumb, I use the following guidelines for capacitor types:
Power Supply: High Temp, High Ripple, long life
Signal path: 2uF or less - Film; Above 2uF Low Noise/ Low Leakage
Phono Preamp: Low Noise/Low Leakage or film
I also use general purpose capacitors for most other applications. i usually don't use "audio grade" capacitors, but a lot of folks will use them in signal path situations when the value is greater than 2 uF or if a Film cap doesn't fit. There's always the compromise possible based upon what's available. Stick with quality brands and buy from reputable dealers.
