Hi, I recently picked up a pair of JBL 4312,s and after listening to them for a while i find the sound full but a little bright, i have read other posts about ways to change sound. One problem i have is that there is no model listing on the crossover so i am not sure what i have, what i do know is on the crossover i have a large cap 8.0 mf another large one 3.0 uf and two small radials .01k 200 vdc. While reading i have noted that some have 8.0 uf and 3.0 uf, i am not sure what the difference is from mf to uf. Does someone know which caps i should use to improve the sound of the JBL i also do not see voltage listed on these large caps thanks pete

Treat uF and mF interchangeably. Voltage rating should not be an issue; modern caps handle plenty of power: If you go onto Parts Express and enter the value, eg, "4.7uf" in the search window, it will show film caps of sufficient voltage in that value. You may have to run two lower values in parallel to hit a target. So 2.2uF + 5.8uF in parallel = 8uF. You don't need to replace the .01 cap. You might want to use Jantzen Cross-Caps or Solens or Daytons; opinions are all over the map as to which sound best.
