Recap Technics SB-A13 speakers

Hi all,
my Technics SB-A13 3-way speakers are acting strange, at lower volumes the tweeter won't work, unless I increase the volume. Once, increased the volume and lowered back, they work fine.
I suspect the capacitors are dying...any thoughts?

The capacitors that I observed, have unusual marking "50Y1R5K" and also NP 85°C 9305 M07, I tried searching the web to identify what that means so I could order replacement, but cannot find any relevant info except of NP=non polar and obvious 85 deg. Celsius. Any suggestions are welcome!

What amp/receiver are you using? I have a Technics SU-G90 that will cut out like that, and come back on after turning the volume way up.

If it's not that, check to see if there are any tone controls on the back of the speakers. They may need to be cleaned with contact cleaner/deoxit.

Thank you for your response. I am using DENON DRA-635R - so it is possible to be a receiver issue?
There are no controls on the back of the speakers and the contacts look "shiny", but you got me thinking about the receiver. I will test it with a different receiver. thanks!
 
Unfortunately, trying different receiver did not help. So it is now confirmed that the problem is with the speakers. Any advice on how to fix this is appreciated!
 
I was able to fix the issue by replacing crossovers. Somebody was selling terminal plates with attached crossovers from SB-A10 speakers, which fit perfectly.

Hey everyone, I have a pair of technics sb-a13 speakers I just recently bought, when I tested them out at home, the right side tweeter doesnt work, I dont know why.
 
Do you have a multimeter? If so check the ohms/continuity of the non-working tweet. 0 or infinite means either a shorted voice coil or a burned open voice coil, either means replacing the tweeter. some reading means it's still good.

If not,try swapping the tweeters. If the problem follows the tweeter, it's the speaker. Otherwise you need to start looking at the internal connections and/or crossover.

I checked for continuity, there was nothing, the voice coil is burnt, its ashame because I just bought them, thanks for the help everyone!

You are not alone. Not every purchase comes with an audition when you are meeting someone in a parking lot for that great CL deal.

Yes!!! Searched for Panasonic ECEA50Y1R5K as someone on other forum suggested and was able to cross reference to 1.5uF 50V 85C capacitor:)
