Recapping Denon DP-47f

I decided to recap my old DP-47f, not because it is showing its age, but instead based on the suggestions of some kind members of this forum, who explained the risks that using old caps presents, especially in an all-electronic microprocessor-controlled turntable like this one.
I found a page that sells all the caps needed, as a kit, which is very convenient for me. The issue lies in the fact that even if the product is titled “Denon DP-47f upgrade kit audio capacitors”, the picture in the product site depicts a DP-37f which made me a bit sceptic. Ordered a kit for a Denon DP-47F and a Yamaha A-1020 each mid october. Never came to me despite their mail that said they resent it to me. Never got a tracking number despite them promising to give me one.

I know we have the covid situation and all, but from my point of view i would have to say avoid if possible. Will update once the buyer protection has ran it's course.

That's a shame. I got my Victor TT-Y5 fully recapped, RCA sockets and a banana plug installed. Can run any cable I want now and should outlast me hopefully.

from a post on another forum (which i cross checked with the service manual)
the following are the capacitors you need
Qty Cap V
9 1uF 50v
14 10uF 16v
5 100uF 16v
2 47uF 10v
2 1000uF 25v
3 47uF 16v
1 220uF 16v

if you have doubts about the seller, why not buy the capacitors directly from any reputed electronics component seller? Just make sure you stick to known brands

Just picked up my recapped dp-47f .. runs perfectly without any VRs adjustment

Swapped out 3x red leds for blue ones and looking a bit more updated .. lifter's red one remains to know why no sound as is the 33/45 sensing one as it may be a bit too harsh to view directly as well as not knowing if it mess up its functionality.

Meanwhile, reportedly 2nd top Denon Dp-80 and Dk-300 refurbishment and modding project started

Hi, It was done by free lance service technician here in Singapore for sgd100 using the ebay recap kit provided by me.

However, he had stopped providing such service as he had unfortunately injured himself and other than the time and efforts due to the numerous capacitors, it is quite doable myself having bought thereafter Hakko desoldering station as well as soldering station. Cheers.

For the process of converting the power supply from 100VAC, do you have any information on how and what is needed?
I'm hoping this is something I can do.

Better to leave the turntable alone and feed it 100VAC.

Use step down transformer to 100-110v.

I'll be buying the TT with the intention of restoring it.
New dust cover, veneer, re-cap etc.
It would be a great bonus to be able to replace the transformer also.

Why not if you can get original one. Otherwise do not touch it. There are too many parameters what should be taken into account, including built quality etc. My Nakamichi Dragon-CT (one of them), TX-1000, Technics SP-15 all are US 120V. But I am in Europe. I simply use transformers. Get real autotransformer not "voltage converter". You do not need exact 100V something between 100 and 110 will be OK, even 120 would not kill it, however it is not recommended.

I simply had a small little TI-352 mounted inside the chassis as I do not wish for another component hanging outside the dp-47f as shown below:



Later, I read of Australian with direct "PowerTrans" xformer replacement with model shown below but mine with stepdown transformer works fine and hence did not change to this preferred if I will to do it again:



Either way you need to have connection right but it is not rocket science and quite easily done.

Btw, should you or anyone reading this msgs needs professionally printed 230v label for anal perfection like me for a bit of safety of modded voltage but of course with same SN as mine, just drop me a PM with yr shipping details to have 2 or 3 mailed to you at as charged postage .. I had 2 sheets of 100s printed.

Yes also on brand new Denon cartridge DL-301 mk2 as well as a brand new DL-80 when released to do a bit of future investigation on how much a later and reportedly better cartridge can push SQ for this wonderful fully automatic vintage turntable of small footprint and nice aesthetics imho.
