Recapping SA-9100

Hi,
I have an SA-9100 amp that I would like to recap - from everything that I've read (and hear) it definitely needs it. I did search the forum but, while there are quite a few threads on SA-9100, I could not find any quite detailed enough for a newbie like myself. I'm a bit at a loss as to how to approach this whole task and would appreciate pointers both to general (preferably detailed) guides to recapping an old unit, and to specific SA-9100 threads/info.

Hi Samid,

You would need first a schematic with parts list and compare it with the actual values. Then source/buy for the electrolytics that will be recapped, recommended by the guru's are Panasonic's and Nichicons from Digikey and Mouser. I got good advises from my 1st successful recap here, you may find the link below.

if you do a search within the Pioneer Audio forum there are quite a number of threads devoted to this specific task on the SA-9100.

AK member SolutionRoom recapped a sa-9100, and there are a bunch of threads started by him with lots of parts lists and noise/hum troubleshooting.

Thus you want to be careful, or you could wind up with something worse than what you had when you started. The cssa and csz caps might need to be replaced by low leakakge / low noise caps. nichicon ukl's for 1uf and over and dsf stacked film caps for 0.1uf to 1.0uf.

Thanks for all the replies guys, looks like I'll have some reading to do

(In the meantime, I decided to recap a Marantz 2245 that I also have, so far it is going ok...)
