Receiver and Amp nudies! Post them if ya got them!

my kenwood KR-730

24047IMG_0119.jpg

not a single breakdown yet, dad bought it in 1980, together with his advents, was used for the advents until 1999, then some yamaha ht crap replaced it (the yammie broke down 2 times in 6 years) and the kenwood then serviced in the garage, I used the yammie with the advents when dad bought his b&w's, the yamaha lasted 2 months and then broke down again, left channel amp broke down, so it was then used in the garage, and I got the kenwood. It could use new caps, and a complete cleanup, might do that sometime. I now use a denon PMA-700 AE to drive the advents and the kenwood as a tuner, but in the near future the kenwood might just get himself a new job in my system...

Keep them spinning,
Bert.

Cool, you should post some non-nudies in the Sony thread :)

Does it still sound ok ?

While it was sold as "working" it arrived with one defective channel :tears: . Work in progress. I found multiple defects in the power supply. I think I have solved this, but at least the head amp is still down. Moreover it is not in very good cosmetic condition.
I keep you up to date and will post more pictures when I have finished with it :thmbsp:

Wow, bummer ! Good thing you are figuring it out though.

Lots of knowledgeable techs on this board if you need help (of which Unda Maris is a Sony expert, and also in Germany).

Good luck with the repairs !

.....at 85% of full power it pumps the Led Zeppelin "What Is And What Should Never Be" rhythm guitar barking-chop finale with supreme, warm soft-power-clip gusto.....through (4) 10" foam-surround mounted JBL's.....approximately 42wpc RMS (8 ohms)......

Pic of insides of said amp/tuner on www.myspace.com/badger377 .....and then look under pics for the jpg.

Rare Technics SA-5760, inside view

Really big transformer, heavy, 165 wpc. Had to take some Advil after hoisting it out of the trunk of my car.

I saw some Tube stuff sneak in here so what the heck.

For a change of pace and your consideration a 1928 Remler Infradyne. No where near low-fi but I bet the original owner did think he had tons of Audiokarma! Check out the "then" larger silver marshall interstage trannies. This one would have been ouput transformerless. If any of you Techies want to know what an "infradyne" is well its a superheterodyne that uses the sum instead of the diference.

Sony TA-E88B

One of my Sony's buried in the spare bedroom for 20 years. I could not remember why I stopped using it as I had loads of other equipment at the time (see my first post). The volume pot was spinning freely when I tried it, loose allen nut, easy fix! bit of switch cleaner on the selector and good as new!
