Hi, I have a Kenwood KR9600 receiver. I am wanting to buy a set of Cerwin Vega speakers. D9’s are 8 ohms, and DX9’s are 4 ohms. What would be the correct choice for my receiver, and why?. I would like to get some opinions. I’m have been told that the DX9’s will make my receiver run too warm. Is this true?. Knowledgeable opinions greatly appreciated. Thank you

Either will work just fine, but if wanting to add another set of speakers then the 4ohm could be an issue.

Trying to use both at the same time might not be so good.
Or what that guy already said ^ while I was researching your receiver.

Don't know why not.
You have plenty of power and from what I understand CV's are quite efficient and can play quite loud.
My experience with CV's is very limited so I'll let others give their opinions.
 
I am not personally a fan of running vintage hifi gear with 4 ohm loads, even if the manufacturer said it's ok 40 years ago.

I would rather play it safe and stick with an easier load to run.

New PA gear on the other hand.....bring on the 4 ohm load.
 
CV’s run super efficient! You will have zero problem driving either set. I have a pair of dx7 and there considered 6ohm. I’ve had dx7,dx9,d3,d9,at12,at15’s and they all drive easy and nothing has ever got warm.

I still use a pair of dx7 but all that’s original is the woofers and cabs. Van l speakerworks in Chicago did a 2000$ upgrade to them. Changed mids and tweets. He built a 18lb xover per speaker and filled with lambs wool and rewired with kimber kable. Now there matched to a modwright kwa100 amp and modwright ls100 pre using a technics sp-15 tt with audio technica OC9!! Nowadays I’m in heaven

I hate 4 ohm speakers because it prevents you from safely driving a second pair of speakers. I also don't particularly like the acoustic suspension sound or watt gobbling ineffecient speakers. Plus I don't think AR sounds as good as so many who worship at this altar would have it. Enough reasons for you ??

Well since two out of your three reasons don't apply to the thread, there wasn't a lot of clarification.
CVs aren't acoustical suspension, nor are they inefficient.

I haven't heard any AR speakers, but going by what has been said on site, I'm guessing CVs do not sound much like ARs.

So it's still just you hate all 4 ohm speakers because you can't run four of them.
I see you haven't posted anything about NAD. Maybe try some NAD equipment, it can handle two sets of most 4 ohmers.
