Receiver maintenance...

As I was installing my new receiver today I was thinking of how clean inside some of the ones I saw at the shop were and I noticed how dust had collected on the more modern receiver I was replacing.

How do I keep my new vintage receiver clean and operating properly?

Covered when not in use whatever works....
Keep away from children and idiots....
Keep away from food....& All Liquids.
And whatever you do DO NOT BELIEVE YOURSELF TO BE A TECHNICIAN AND START MEDDLING AROUND INSIDE THERE!!

If you are going to 'cover' your receiver, make sure it can't be accidentally turned on. Turned on and with no ventilation - BAD things might happen.

Dust, humidity, and temperature are the enemies I think. Most modern non-smoking houses are the perfect environment for the vintage equipment - as opposed to the original home that it might have lived in for so many years. Hate to cover up a beautiful piece too.

Since I share my home with two German Shepherds, I dust regularly and take the gear outside a couple of times a year to blow everything out of it.
