Recommend a cartridge to replace a Pickering XV-15/625E

My son has a Marantz 6100 TT with a Pickering XV-15/625E that has developed a wiring issue in the tonearm. It makes a loud static sound as the arm approaches the record, so I need to dig into the table and see what's going on. In the interim I'm setting up my Sony PS-X60 for him, and I need a cartridge. Both he and I really like the sound signature of the Pickering, and it seems to have great synergy with the Marantz 6100, and his Yamaha CR1020. What cartridge would you recommend for the PS-X60 to maintain a similar sonic signature? I'd like to keep the cost below $250, and if I could pick up something lightly used, that would be even better. Is the Pickering XV-15 a good match for the Sony if I can find one? I've been watching for a used one to pop up for sale, but haven't seen any that aren't crazy priced.

XV15 cartridges are cheap on eBay. But not original needles. Jico makes good ones. I also like the Swiss nude elliptical made for the XV15 1200E.
