George Duke. His later stuff became even more funky.

A couple favorites of mine are Feel and The Aura Will Prevail.

If it's specifically soundtracks you want, may I suggest Willie Hutch, Curtis Mayfield, Bobby Womack, Or Gato Barbieri, all of whom made at least one in the early '70s.
Otherwise, definitely try Grover Washington Jr, David Sanborn, Bob James, George Benson, Lonnie Liston Smith, Stanley Clarke, Roy Ayers, Donald Byrd, Herbie Hancock as mentioned and pretty much any artist on the CTI (Creed Taylor Int.l) label from the '70's will give a nice Jazz/Funk fusion vibe.

I am assuming you want some modern stuff??

Try these...

Try Maceo Parker "Roots and Grooves". Maceo Parker led the James Browns in the 70's with a very funky sax. On this dual album he leads a German big band, as well doing a Ray Charles tribute. This should be right in your wheelhouse.

The sax in the first one is just like yakkity sax. "yakkity yak, don't talk back"

An out and out gas cd is the soundtrack for "Talk to me". Among the great playlist is Hip Hug'er by Booker T and the MG's .

Another great funk song is "Always There" by Ronnie Laws. I found it on a 50th anniversary compilation of Blue Note at my local library,
