Hello folks,
I use an old integrated amp (Marantz 1060). While it still sounds pretty good to me, I think it might be time to get the capacitors replaced. I often hear dust or scratchiness when I turn the volume knob; and there's a sustained hum that I hear when there's no music.
I'm not handy with this kind of thing, so I'd like to take it to a repair person. Do you think replacing the capacitors is what I need to get done? What are some guidelines I should know before asking for that service? Anything I should look out for? Perhaps you know a good place in New York City you can privately recommend? And could you tell me how much (I guess privately again) I should expect to reasonably pay for this?
