Recommended Speakers for Simaudio Moon 240i

I am considering purchase of this entry level integrated amp. I am also looking at either PSB or Monitor Audio speakers (would consider other brands as well). Would anyone recommend the best speaker? What I mean is not to go too high or too low for this specific amp.

On the other hand I also considered going for NAD Power Amplifier C 275BEE+ Preamplifier C 165BE combination instead of Moon. So would like to hear opinions on that as well.

Thanks.

With fifty watts on hand, pretty much any speaker should work fine assuming sane levels.

As for "best", that's pretty much a subjective call and is kinda like asking what's the best flavor ice cream.

What have you heard that you like?

Just to muddy the waters even more, I've been running a NAD 1600 tuner/pre and a 214 power amp for about twenty years and still love 'em.

BTW, that NAD you're looking at puts out about three times the power your moon does.

What's your favorite color?

That doesn't mean it is mine.
If possible listen before buying.
If not, maybe buy something with a 30 day return policy.

Thanks a lot. I do realize it is a very subjective call. My approach is to do online research, then try to listen to what is possible at my local dealer. And the dealer I am looking at has Simaudio and NAD (of course not only, but for my price range and taste that is all). He also has Monitor Audio (I selected it as there is a big range of options to choose from) and PSB that I know - I have older model - bookshelf speakers. One thing with Monitor Audio is that, they require a bit more power than Moon has.

And just so you know, this is the first time, I am trying to move to audiphile level from very average setup, but I am looking at lower end. Don't have enough $ to go where I would like to be (high end Simaudio, would be my dream).

I found interesting recommendation: Q-Acoustics Concept 500 Speakers and Moon 240i, but these speakers are not available in Canada and they are a bit too expensive for me.

Thanks again.

Monitor Audio makes great speakers....and I don’t think they are necessarily power hungry. As others have said, speakers are really a subjective choice. What sounds great to me may sound boring to you. Take your time selecting speakers. They have a major impact on your satisfaction. And your room plays a big part of the overall sound as well. I have a difficult room, so speakers that sounded great everywhere else sounded very bad in my room.

Thank you. Would you recommend to discuss my room with a dealer? I am afraid, it may be an issue, as I have "L" shape room and think about set up at the end of longer section. I believe good thing is that the room is large and I don't have a lot of furniture there.
