Recommended Technics CD Players

I'm interested in your recommendations for Technics CD changers that have the MASH feature. Specifically, which models are most reliable and have decent sonic qualities. I own two SL-PC33 Technics CD changers from the early 90s. Are there other models that rank high, in your opinion, in reliability and sonic excellence? I've had good luck with the SL-PC33s but find them hard to find. There are several other models on eBay they are reasonably priced. Also, are the models made in Japan preferable to ones made elsewhere? Many thanks in advance for your advice and recommendations.

There's a heap of good ones... Speedy picks SL-P990 SL-P999 I could go on....

In experience I have bought some 999 and 555 players that wouldn't read a cd... A tweak of the adjustment pots and to this day there isn't many CDs it won't read/stably play.

Again I must say there's plenty... I haven't experienced every model....

I have a SL-MC300, SL-MC310 and a SL-MC410. All are 110+1 CD changers. I have another that I can't remember the model number on that is a 60+1 changer. All work great and I really like them. The only thing I've seen go bad on them is the rubber belt driving the transport mechanism. New belts cheap from ebay and a 10 minute job to replace. I obtained two other 110+1 changers which are later models (again I don't remember the model) that I gave to two of my kids. They like them too!

Only own the one Technics MASH CD changer, namely a 5 disc SL-PD6 from 1999.It sounds decent and is still working perfectly to this day.It was pretty cool been able to playback one CD whilst changing others with the tray still left open. There's also a SL-PD8 which is basically the same, except for a few added features.

I picked up a SL-PD827 from CL, only able to compare it to my Blu-ray players, and it really sounds great IMO. It's a 5 CD changer and the owner still had the remote. My test CD is Keith Richards "Main Offender", really great sound stage.

in the late 80s, i was hesitating to buy a cdp but reviews led me to purchase a magnavox at target for $140. i really liked the sound of it and began to hound my friend to get into CDs even though he was heavily invested in LPs like myself.

i always knew i wouldn't dump my vinyl and replace it with cd copies. he got a technics of unremembered model number which had BASH. the bass was VERY solid and was the best feature of the unit as well as its solid build.

i brought over my magnavox which proved to have much superior imaging and high end clarity, not long afterwards, he started a quest for a better sounding unit. he ended up with a NAD cdp and after a year of so bought a CAL Audio Labs sigma tubed D/A that i borrowed from audio den in van nuys.

even though we were completely to one side just after plugging in the sigma, the imaging sprouted throughout the room. on axis it was superlative.

i never got to hear any other technics players so i cannot say that those others may not have had better sound than his.

SVI2004A, where would I find the adjustment pot on the SL P555 and when I find it how does one adjust it?.

I own it’s cousin a Panasonic 5 disc with the mash tech bought in the early 90s still works great.!

I think most Panasonics (and Technics) had MASH after around 1990 or so. I like their sound. They're all pretty solid. Had a nice SL-PD947 5-disc carousel that had a pitch control. I think the SL-PD8 has an optical and reads DTS Audio.
