I started out recording with Cool Edit 2000, then Adobe came along and assimilated the program, added some enhancements and renamed it "Audition". They offered Cool Edit owners a special price to upgrade, so I fell for it and ordered Audition 1.0 and that's all that I've ever really used. Recently though, I upgraded my PC to Windows Vista and Audition won't run without some nagging pop-up when the program starts, saying something about a color scheme compatibility problem and that Vista is changing to Windows Basic. The program seems to work okay though. Funny, if I open the old Cool Edit program, Vista seems to like it better, no errors when I open it.
Anyway, i'm just wondering what program do most of you use for recording old vinyl, specifically, with Vista? I guess Audacity is pretty popular because it's free, so maybe I'll give it a try to see how I like it.
Opinions?
