Records Shops to see in San Diego and NYC

I second the el indio recomendation! A little off the beaten path - but amazing burritos .... my favorite when I lived there is the chili rellano burrito ... it is massive and delicious!
and not to get too off topic ... but Hodad's makes a great burger ... in Ocean Beach ...

Check out Club Bonafide on East 52 St in NYC....owned by musician Richard Bona....always great Jazz of all types... IMG_1008.JPG

Don't forget Tower Records next to Foggy's Notion across from the Sports Arena!!! Oh wait, nevermind :(. Good to know list I will be out there working in a couple weeks.

Yes, it was sad day when Tower closed its doors. It was the last of the "late night record stores" to quote BNLs. I have only hazy partial memories of the times I went to Foggy's Notion. Enjoy your return to SoCal.

Food and music !! Life is great ? Also the taco shop ( was on mam vs food ) great food across from el Indio

Ok, so here's an alternate afternoon itinerary.

Go to Ocean Beach in San Diego and stroll Newport Ave.

Stop in at the Black and have a mind trip back to the 70's. Keep your eyes open for several of the used/resale shops - some have small bins for used LPs.

Head to the used LP shop called Cow Records and spend an hour flipping the bins.

Then walk across the street to the South Coast Bar & Grille - go UP the stairs to the bar area (no kids) and order some of their famous fish tacos - the shrimp tacos are killer, too. Go on a Tuesday or Thursday for the taco sale day.

If the weather is nice - stroll the longest concrete pier on the West Coast.

If you get thirsty, there are some brew pubs to quench it.

As mentioned - Hodad's serves killer burgers, but the lines can get long unless you get there early.
