I just finished season 3 of this hidden gem. If you are looking for a well written and well acted series, give this a try. It is streaming seasons 1 and 2 on Netflix. There will be a season 4. If you are one of the few that have seen it, express your thoughts.

I ran across it purely by accident when I was looking for a series to watch. Imagine what it would be like to be out of society for 20 years. Aden Young plays the part perfectly. And Abigail Spencer from "Suits" is not hard to look at either.

I have now started watching "The Killing". Another well written series that keeps you guessing through the first two seasons. More misdirection than I have seen in a series in a long time. Each episode is roughly a day of the investigation and there is rain every day. I hope season 3 and 4 live up to 1 and 2.

Aye on both fronts. Young nails the humble freak character and the premise of Rectify is fascinating.

I started The Killing a couple years back and then got distracted with another binge(s). :rolleyes:

Just watched the first episode last night and I'm hooked.

Hthman, if you're watching The Killing then you'll want to see Broadchurch, basically the British version.
Then you'll want to see Happy Valley which is sort of a British version of Fargo (the movie).

Although just into the second episode, I find the lead actor to be kind of creepy odd.
However it seems the show could be held together by the rest of the cast.
The sister is interesting:)

As you watch more, you will find him less creepy but see him as a kid that goes straight from high school to prison and the personality reflects what he missed in all those years. Takes several episodes to really get hooked-stick with it.
 
I too liked The Killing and Broadchurch. We just finished the first season of Happy Valley and definitely plan to watch the rest. The thick Yorkshire accents were a bit much at first but I turned on the closed captions. I'll have to check out "Rectify". Thanks!
 
Just finished episode 2 and liking it so far -- thanks for the tip! Having lived in Texas for 12 years it seem authentically Southern to me, not Hollywood-Southern.
 
I'd also binged the 1st 3 seasons on NETFLIX. Last night I watched the final episode of this truly excellent drama series. This was Sundance's 1st at bat in series drama and they hit it out of the park. I've never seen anything on TV as well acted or as well written as this unique piece of art. Sundance will have a tough time releasing anything close to this, as will any other network.
ps Metacritic gave this show the highest average rating of any series on TV.

Not really a **spoiler** Only an opinion of the finale, but skip if you want it to be totally pristine.

The finale left me mildly optimistic. Enough was resolved that we can hope that Daniel's life gets better. It appears that there will finally be justice. We hope that Daniel's dream becomes reality. It was left open ended enough that we could possibly see Sundance make a special that shows us what finally happens to everyone. As it is, we are left with our own interpretations, and maybe that is better.
