Reed Relay Sourcing

I am looking for replacement reed relays for the Sansui BA/CA-3000 and AU-919

Sansui part numbers 1150430 for the AU-919
1150320 in the BA-3000 and CA-3000

Looks like they are HA-224N relays.

Google search, AK search and Digikey live help have not been helpful.

I see the genius over at AMP8 has replaced them with black Omrons but the images are not clear enough to tell part numbers and I don't know japanese.

There has to be someone out there who has replaced these before. I have intermittent channel issues and am trying to sort it out!

Thanks!

He used Omron LA2's, and judging from the pics, he had to do some shucking and jiving to get them installed.

Check the US Relays line of open-line relays, like the DPDT 24V one (you would clip off the NC contacts). Digikey #Z649-ND. The catalog will give pin dimensions, and you can check to see if they'll fit.

FYI, the CA-3000 commonly has serious problems with pass-throughs (similar to the 9090db). These relays are very robust and rarely fail, so you may have a large project on your hands pinning PC-board pass-throughs to solve the intermittant channel problem.

Thanks, Echo. I read your post about these reed relays in the Kenwood 700C thread but I wasn't sure if it would work because of the DPDT/DPST difference. Apparently I just clip leads, neat. The issue is as follows: when the units are immediately turned on, the left channel is inoperative. Then if I turn up the volume a bit louder than I want, the left channel pops on.

The units were "restored" before I purchased them and I have the bill of work stating all the controls were cleaned and deoxited, but tearing down the unit shows that no relays had been removed/replaced. That is why I think it is the relay as I have had this issue before.

But far from being an expert, I will take a look at the passthroughs. I have already resoldered all the joints in the BA-3000, there were several that looked suspect.

The CA-3000 will go on the bench next.

Do you happen to know what board the passthrough is on, or is it a "you will know when you see it" kind of thing. I have not had to deal with the passthrough joints yet but I have read a lot on here about them.

I bet I am in for some fun!
