I bought this entire collection off of craigslist today. The lady had no explanation for why she had so many but I was happy to purchase them all for $50.

I'll list what they are from left to right:

Sony TC-630
AKAI X-1800SD
Roberts 770X SS
ROBERTS 1725-8L III
Akai M-10
Another Akai X-1800SD
Sony Tapecorder 777
And a Tandberg 9200XD laying on its back.

Only 2 are in working order at the moment but I'll get around to fixing the rest. All of them are complete and in great shape.

Wow, nice looking cosmetic condition, at least from this distance. Hope you have good luck getting them back to running.

Wonder what the reel story (groan) was? Hubby, father, boyfriends (maybe all ex?), ran some type of store, storage wars?

That's a great find man! If you happen to be in a giving mood or have a "few" extra RTR's laying around I could take some off your hands :D

Cool collection - nice drums too!

I see a few of those Akais will play 8 track cartridges too, cool feature just in case you have some old 8 track tapes laying around.

The Roberts units are rebadged Akai's. The Roberts 770X SS is an Akai M9 but not sure of the other. You will probably have enough interchangeable parts to make at least one good working Akai.

Everybody knows the pesky things follow you home.

Wow and me only having 20 rtr. I thought I had too many. :D
Nice score and you for sure will have fun with all of them. :thmbsp:

Those 770X's were the "PX poster child" during the Vietnam era! Just about every serviceman who was into hi-fi had one! Brings back memories...

Easy. It's just a variation on the Black Widow. Woman meets man. She notes his R2R. Man disappears! Woman adds R2R to her collection.

They're all in the back garden. The men that is.:lmao:

Then I'll never use the line, "Hey, would you like to come inside to see my reels?"
