I am looking at getting either a Pioneer RT-1020H or a Teac A3340 reel to reel deck, and I am looking for some pricing guidelines.

I have not seen them yet, but I will see them before purchase. I am told that the both are fully functional, and in good condition.

I haven't found much in the way of recent purchases to compare cost, so I am hoping someone can give me a range to start with.

A Pioneer RT-1020H could go for as much as $350 in excellent condition. Do a search on the famous auction site for the sales history of them and see what they have sold for.

Belts and pinch rollers are available for them if needed.

The 1020H is a very nice deck, and should be available for less than a 3340 in the same condition.

Keep in mind that the RT-1020H is a 7.5/15 i.p.s. machine, so it eats a lot of tape! Also, the 1020H records in 2-channel 1/4 track and can play back 4-channel 1/4 track. You can also use it to play back 2-channel 1/2 track tapes.

I can't offer any useful info about the 3340, other than the fact they were about $1200 new when the RT-1020H was $650.

The price is about right in my area, the h would be a liitle higher becasue fewer of them were made.
