Infinity folk! I just picked up my first pair, starting small.

A pair of Reference One from the local Salvation Army, going out of business. I ordered new foam surrounds but I wonder if anyone has any tips for getting the plastic trim rings off without damaging them, or at least keeping them in one piece. Any help would be appreciated!

Seems like I've seen it mentioned that using a flat putty knife (or maybe a plastic flat blade of some sort to avoid damaging the cabinet) along with a heat gun can help with removing those trim rings.

ADDED--- cut and paste this in Google or what ever search engine you use, I got several results:

Thank you for the tip, I'll give it a shot. Surrounds arrive next week. I'll post if I learn anything new.

Regards!

This tool has worked beautifully over the years for speaker rebuilds.
