Refoaming Advent Large - "Bullnose" model

They are behind the foam in the speaker. Today I am refoaming the woofer. Once that is done, I might yank out the foam to take a picture.

The Simply Speakers video does not mention using the 30 Hz test tone, and seems to say the speaker will center fairly easily after the new surround is attached to the speaker cone. Yes, no maybe?

If you get your surrounds from Simply Speakers be aware that their glue tacks up fast. It looks easy in their videos but consider how much experience that person has. I find their glue relatively unforgiving of mistakes and use it only in situations where I need a fast setting glue. Admittedly I no longer have the digital dexterity of my youth. My preference is Aleene's Original Tacky Glue, which I think is essentially the same as the white glue other surround vendors usually include. I've aligned Advent woofers using the 30Hz tone, shims, and just by feel. I used shims the first time I did a surround and have never chosen to use them since. If I'm working on a woofer I'm not familiar with I use the tone.

I bought the Allene glue. After scraping the old glue from the speaker frame, there are still traces of the old glue left. The instructions that came with the new surrounds from Simply Speakers say to use rubbing alcohol to remove any remnants of glue. Is that what you have used to prep the frame surface?

Just play music through it while the glue is wet. All you're trying to do is to get the cone to move in and out. Turn the bass up some to get it to move more. It will then center itself.
I just connect speaker wire to the leads on the driver being sure they won't come off or short.

I use acetone. You may not be able to get all of the old glue off which is fine. If it's sticking that good it isn't going to come loose.
