Rega Planar 3 - which protractor?

I'm about to put a Comet Supply-sourced Denon DL-110 on my Rega Planar 3. I've read posts of people having trouble with the placement of the cartridge, with some arguing that the cartridge should be mounted very forward. I think those people say use Baerwald. However, I have the Rega-provided template. Is the Rega template only good for Rega cartridges?

Any advice before I take this on? Thanks.

The Rega protractor is good for all cartridges. If you use a Baerwald protractor, it works only if you slide the cartridge forward from the correct Rega position. A correct Baerwald alignment will also angle the cartridge in the slots, very slightly.

You can print your own and try several different arc protractors.
See what works just go here and click on "Custom arc template generator for phono cartridge alignment" http://conradhoffman.com/chsw.htm

I print mine on 4a card, little bit thicker than paper.

I much prefer the Baerwald alignment with my Rega. I tried the Rega alignment one time and was not pleased. The Mobile Fidelity Geodisc is the easiest way to set the Baerwald alignment.

I use a Baerwald 2-point protractor with my Rega. The front edge of the cartridge sits out beyond the front edge of the tonearm by quite a bit.

The Nagaoka MP-11 that is in there appears to used the Baerwalk, as the edge of the cartridge protrudes out from the front edge and it seems to follow the arm (sort of hard to tell because even though I have the protractor taped to an old record, it doesn't lay exactly flat).

I'll put the DL-110 using this and see how it compares.
