Check the motor to see if it's loose. Rega uses double stick foam tape to hold the motor to the plinth (hey, what do you expect for only $900.00?). The tape is stuck to raw MDF with more tape on the inside cover to support it. I could feel a vibration on my plinth when I went to cue a record. Once re-attached it will sound MUCH better.
