Reglue KG 5.2 Rear Panel

I have a pair of KG 5.2 and the back panel on one of them is rattling. I can put pressure on it and the rattling stops. I've read about people just squeezing glue into the seam and other people knocking the back off and completely regluing it. Knocking the back of seems like it would be the best way, but my fear is that when I knock it off that the glue will hold part of it and separate part of the panel. Do they usually come off without any problems? Should I take the front panel off and reglue it also while I'm at it? I guess the best way is to take the speakers out and work through the hole.

If you have any other thoughts on how to do this let me know.

Ive done this at least 6-8 times on KG, KLF & a couple klipsch subs. Unless the board(s) are very loose like they could be pushed out by hand without much effort, the best way is to use a strong glue like Gorilla Glue or a construction adhesive in a caulk tube. I prefer GG, if you follow the instructions it is designed to expand into the gaps or open areas which will lock the board in very strong.... but construction adhesive like liquid nails or wood glue works good too.

I just did a single KG 3.5 I have a couple weeks ago but was out of GG, so I used normal Titebond int/ext wood glue. It will creep into gaps too, apply a good amount in a bead and let it sink into the gaps, after about 10 mins there will be areas where it sunk all the way in, apply another bead then put the box face down & apply some weight to the back panel & let it dry. Same steps for the GG, let it creep into the voids then apply weight on the back until it cures.

Pull the woofer &/or passive radiator & tweeter to get best access. You can remove the entire board too but as you mentioned, there is a risk of damaging the wood, these are just MDF, also will usually require more work to remove all the old hard glue. Best way with least amount of work is using a strong glue applied like a bead of caulking. All the ones Ive done are still holding up, some after 15-20 years.

PL or other construction adhesives are good too. GG does suggest misting but it works good applied like a normal glue too.

If the board is bowed out, just jet some 24" clamps from Menards-they are like $7ea.
My Kg 5.5 has a loose rear-easily knocked out.
It was like that for some time it looks like-so the rear panel had a slight bow.
U=You need a bit more force them weight on the back to do it right.
Also consider square dowels.
This will give you additional stability.
The sides, and top and bottom have full square dowels in the seams.
Only the front motor board does between the woofers.
Nothing on the rear panel.

Good to know, I don’t have any weights or anything like that. I don’t want it sticking out. It should be flush with the edges of the cabinet.
