Rek-O-Kut K-33H with Micropoise tonearm

I just picked up this Rek-O-Kut K-33H turntable with the Micropoise tonearm.
I downloaded the service manual from Vinyl Engine but the tonearm is different.
Also, is that power switch correct?
Anyone have the birds-eye lowdown on this setup? Is this worth inveting time and effort into? Needs a belt but those look to be easy to come by (and a stylus of course).

Looks like a 12" ROK Micropoise installed here. Appears to be middle to late era (BE era maybe). The ROK Micropoise arms were made up to 1992. Broadcast Electronics purchased Rek-O-Kut and QRK Electronics. The ROK tonearm and QRK turntables were made by BE after the purchase. Worth investing some time and effort into indeed. Nice score!
 
That's a thing of beauty :thmbsp:. The Belts that are readily available are too short and the table will run too fast. See if you can find a used original fabric belt for it and it will run the proper speed. See the discussion up in the ROK thread at the top. Its a great table. I've got 2 of them. Good luck

The tonearm appears to have a bit more mass to it then my current crop of more modern tonearms. What would be a decent middle of the road cartridge to mate to it? I'm thinking it would need to be some rather rugged. How would this bode for me in terms of record longevity?
By the looks of this thing I think I'll have to mate it to one of my mid 60's receivers, early solid state as I am tubeless.

I'll probably get slapped for saying this but my ROK's both have a standard S120 tonearms instead of the Micropoise tonearm and I have a Shure m75 on one and an M91 on the other and up to now have had no issues. Using a conical stylus on the M75 and it tracks at 3 grams and I can't notice any wear to speak of. Been this way for some time and honestly it sounds quite good. When I play the same LP's later on my Dual with a M91ED I can not hear any issues. YMMV of course.

what kind of cartridge would you use on one of these? where do you find the appropriate belt?
 
pardon me for being a bit dense, but what does the belt size have to do with the running speed? Shouldn't that be governed by the ratio of the motor pulley to the platter pulley and the motor's speed? I can see an overly short belt beating up the bearings in the motor, but I don't see why it would affect the platter speed.
 
I have one of those them thar turntables. After the original cloth belt died, I tried a rubber replacement, then a home-made thread belt. Both run too fast. Must be related to the way it rides on the pulley. I recall that there is an adjustment for that. Just another dead project that collects dust in the closet.

Time to consider cleaning out that closet.

The ROK has long since been transferred to another AKer who will be restoring it to it's former glory.
 
There was a long thread about the belt length and speed sometime back and you could probably find it through search. Id look bet I'm on hold right now so I can't look for a link. It's kind of confusing to explain but it truly does make a difference. If I get time later I'll try and find a link.
