Rek-O-Kut VS Pioneer PL-518 -Your experiences

I'm discussing the merits of a Rek-O-Kut Rondine as compared to the Pioneer PL-518 a friend owns.

I know the PL-518 is a solid performer and well regarded but I argue that paired with a good arm like a Grace 707 the Rondine will easily out shine the Pioneer.

Am I wrong?

Do any of you have experience with both?

Indeed. The Rondine II would have an edge if optimized. That said, the Pioneer PL 518 is terrific in it's class.

A B-12 Rondine is the one I was referring to.

Many of us are big fans of old idler tables like the B-12. They pretty much always require servicing (not difficult or especially expensive) and really need to be mounted in a heavy, layered plywood plinth to reach their potential .

Personally speaking, I'd take an ROK idler with a good arm over any Pioneer turntable... and the PL-518 doesn't look all that special.

In 1956, the B12H was considered TOTL.
