I am, generally not a fan of remotes, but I do use one on two of my Sony CD players.. They do a great job for auditioning speaker e.g. repeating passages, etc.

The question is:

Most of the remotes are missing at thrift stores and yard/garage sales.

Can any of the "Universal" remotes be used say on Denon or Yamaha CD players? I've got a line on a nice clean Yammie that is missing the remote.

Any thoughts?

Yeah, I know there's a website that sells remotes but they're generally $40-$50

Oh, one last one question. Comments, in general, on the Yamaha line of CD Players.

Universal remotes usually work with just about everything. For ease of setup and use, the Harmony remotes are great. The Harmony remotes that you setup using their website (which may be all of their remotes, but I am not sure) have a huge database of codes to choose from. I was able to find codes for very obscure products on their site, including IoData Linkplayer DVD player and a monoprice HDMI switcher. I have a Denon and Yamaha in my setup and they have the codes for those, as well.

As a side note, I am a fan of remotes. Getting off of the couch is uncivilized. :D

I have had both brands of CDPs,they are very good,the yammys usually have cool displays
