Remove Oxidation on B&O Products

I acquired a couple old Beogean 3000 turntables from you-know-where. These are the earlier non-tangential tables. I've always liked these since seeing them in the showroom with the 4004s.

Cosmetic and mechanical work is needed on both. The automatic functions work on one of these and on the other too early to tell. Both needed new idlers and I replaced the belts along the way. Cosmetically, the wood is very nice and the lids are scuffed but crack free. However, the otherwise very nice brushed aluminum trim has what looks to be some corrosion.

I've seen posts and videos regarding removing scratches. Has anyone experience on whether the same sorts of remedies will work to restore the surface corrosion? I want to avoid anything too aggressive because of the lettering on the aluminum panels.

Removing scratches is pretty aggressive to an aluminum finish. If it is just corrosion, I would think a chemical would work, eg vinegar. or a gentle abrasive like a pencil eraser. Start with the least aggressive alternative and see if it works. You can always use something stronger after you have exhausted all other options.

That's probably going to be very hard to clean up. It's likely under whatever clear coat or anodization it has. Try the simple cleaners as mentioned above and good luck.

I had to get much more aggressive with a B&O but have also stopped short on many other turntables such as some of the Kenwood Rock series which often get significant tarnish or corrosion.
