My Beogram 3404 has just recently been unable to maintain consistent rpms (on the slow side, real slow). Occasionally would stop briefly (removed platter and observed the motor would stop). Bought and installed a used motor at online auction. No change, also noticed inconsistent reaction to the speed adjustment knob, i.e. slow down when adjusted to speed up and vice-versa. It probably does need a new belt, but based on symptoms, I don't think that is the main problem.
Changing the motor is about all that I have the skills for. Anything beyond that would be done by a professional. Based on the symptoms presented, does it seem that the likely cost of repair might not be worth it, maybe better to sell as-is and invest the same funds towards another TT.
Any input is appreciated. Tanks!
P.S. FYI, still has the original MMC20EN, though I've always treated it lovingly.
