Repairing cracked Infinity 8" IMG woofer cones

One of my Kappa 6.1 woofers has two cracks in its cone, each about 1.5" long. One of the cracks extends into the silicon surround and adjacent foam. So this crack is one long line from the cone through to the surround foam. I'm considering applying a paper bag "backpatch" for each crack, something I've done for JBL woofer cones with success, but the Kappa cones are a graphite material (and a tiny part of the surround) not paper-type material like a JBL's.

Would this kind of repair for an IMG cone be sufficient, or should I hunt around for another woofer?.

My woofer is #902-6194. Are there are other IMG 8" woofers that are compatible with Kappa 6.1 series II?

Patches can add enough mass to change the parameters of the speaker, better off with a replacement.

AFAIK that's the only one that will work properly. There are enough of those around that they come up for sale fairly often.

A small thin bead of Black Speaker adhesive on the Back side of the crack will fix it.

Well, it took a year before I finally got around to it, but after not being able to find an affordable replacement IMG woofer (they got scarfed up really fast), I refoamed (both) woofers and used the surround adhesive to treat the front of the cracked woofer. I also did the paper bag back patch.

The speakers sound great, the adhesive and the back patches are holding, and I don't hear any appreciable difference between the two woofers. Could there be a difference? Maybe a measurable one using instruments, but I just can't hear it.

My very first refoaming job, and I got lucky as both seemed to be perfectly centered before I applied the test tone.

Now, I just have to decide which set of main speakers I like more: these Kappa 6.1's or my JBL L100 Centuries. The Kappas definitely have the tighter bass.

I have a gorgeous pair just sitting in the closet. I pulled them this morning and measured them.....dammit they are from 7.1’s so one size to big. I was going to offer them to you. That would drive me nuts.

The numbers are different too. I tried man.
