Is it worth fixing or find a replacement TT!!!
I took my TT to a place in VA but the guy told me he couldn't fix it he had my turntable for 6 months !!! and told me to replace it ...but I think it can fixed
I still think it was a brush off!! It seems like he didn't want to be bothered!!
The TT moves slowly because the idle wheel needs reconditioned and needs a new cartridge !!! Looking for advice to which way to go buy a replacement TT or fix what I have!! Thanks for any input the radio and controls are in great working condition!!

The good thing is everything else works except the record player won't spin properly
I get sound from the needle
Ill take TT out and post pics of the mechanism

Sounds like he just didn't want to deal with it. Pretty much ANYTHING can be fixed--the caveats being "for a price" and "is it worth it to you?".

Totally in agreement!! ..I even told him" tell me what I need to order or help out with no pressure !! I drove 2 hours to get the record player to him not to be playing games!!
I'm rolling my sleeves up on this one and start digging in!!
It seems very basic for it not to be so hard to fix!!

As far as who I took it to... in all fairness ....lol I rather leave him and the company nameless ...he maybe trolling in here lol
as an outsider looking in
it seem like he had some other issues going on in personal life so that may have been the issue!!
I gave him a chance athough he had some nice gems in the store!!

I too have doubts that fixing that turntable is a cost effective move. He is running a businesses and he gave you his opinion. His opinion is it will take lots of labor, lots of cost, for not equal performance/value.

You think you can fix it? Give it a shot. Looks like a fun project and a learning experience.

Good luck, Bob

I agree that it probably *can* be fixed, but it may not be cost effective to do so unless you dive in and do the heavy lifting yourself.

I will PM you the info of the guy who fixed my Luxman receiver. He has had a couple old Garrards in his shop every time I've been there.

though the rest of it 'works', it will need attention very soon. I would buddy up to someone who knows a thing or two about tube amplifiers...

Those old consoles are cool as hell, but I don't know if I'd ever want to play one of my "cherished" records on one of those vintage "record grinders" with the 2 lb arm assembly and (most likely) ceramic stylus. But good luck with your adventure--you will at minimum have a nice piece of furniture/conversation piece in the end.
