Replacement mat for BIC 940?

Hi - I recently picked up a zenith branded BIC made turntable. It seems to have the same guts, more or less, as a BIC 980 (same motor, same speed control board, etc) but has a crappy stamped metal platter.

I just ordered a cast BIC 940 platter from eBay, but it has no mat. Can anyone point me at a mat that will work? I’m not sure a generic one will work as I think it needs to fit over the lip of the platter, though I would be happy to find out I’m wrong.

Any mat will do what a mat needs to do. The weird cut outs on the BICs required a piece of black plastic under them to hide the platter, and many mats have shrunk and distorted over the years. I remove them and use a standard mat - I get nervous with automatic mechanisms and mats that have abrupt radial steps in them that would destroy any stylus that accidentally was lowered on to them.

The 940 platter will accept any mat made for that model, a 960, or a 980. Also, any of the "Z" series tables except for the Z-20. They are all the same and clip over the lip at the outer perimeter of the aluminum platter.

I have never tried a different mat but I imagine any generic will lay on the platter OK even if it doesn't clip around the edges.
