Replacement motor for Dual 1219

Hi.

The motor in my Dual 1219 has broken down and my tech guy says it has to be replaced. I stumbled across this motor on ebay but would like to be certain that it will fit before I commit. I've read that 1019 and 1219 have different motors and this one supposedly works for both, which is a bit confusing. Any help is greatly appreciated.

What makes your tech guy say that? The only thing that makes a motor like that bad would be physical damage or open windings. Did he test for continuity?

Oh, now you´re asking questions I can't answer . The guy runs a small repair shop and I don't think he has any special knowledge of turntables. There is another guy a couple of hours drive from where I live who specializes in Duals. The problem is that his shop is only open during office hours, when I work. The turntable was working up until a couple of weeks ago when the motor started to make a noise. I tried to service the motor by following the service guide for amateurs available online. I must have done something wrong as the motor was dead when I put it back together...

Besides reassembling the 2 halves crooked so the armature binds (easily checked to a certain degree by spinning the shaft by hand), doesnt seem so much could go south on the motor service.
What I could see being more likely is getting confused with which wire goes where inside the black box

I don't believe the 1019 and 1219 motors are interchangeable. The 1219 and 1229 motors are.

Don't you have to give the motor a whack to align bearings? Was that done?

Maybe I did reassemble the two halves crookedly.. Would that explain the motor not starting? I did give it a whack to align the bearings and I'm pretty sure it's wired correctly. Thank you for all your input!
