Replacement OP transistors for QRX5500?

I'm new to the Audiokarma forum but I have been collecting records for years and have finally begun investing in better stereo equipment. I picked up a Sansui QRX 5500 in mostly good working condition, however, not all the quad functions are working. I've taken it in to be repaired despite the incredible sound produced by only two channels.

So, the repair guy told me he is having a very hard time finding the output transistors needed to get the beast fully functional. No surprise that they aren't made anymore and that it has come down to locating replacements of replacements. I've been on the lookout for QRX 5500 parts and non-working units for scrap, but that's no guarantee either.

Does anyone know where I can find these output transistors? I can ask the repair guy for the specific codes if necessary.

You wont find exact replacements, they haven't been made for years....

Any reasonable tech should be able to source a substitute that will equal or better the performance.

Jim at QRX Restore will be able to give you some help... he's the guy that started that thread you jumped on, send him a PM I'm sure he'll have the answer your looking for.
 
Edit: made a typo here, should be MJE15032G.

The MJE11032 is what we use. Cut off the center pin, the collector, and fold the other two over and into the pin socket. The Hole on the heat sink will line up with one of the transistor mount screws. You can re-use the same insulator. Seems to work and sound great.

Yes, yes, yes. I hope that Talk didn't immediately order the wrong parts. Of course I don't even know if there is such a thing as a MJE11032G (50 amp darlington, I guess).

Funny thing, I sent him a PM, and in the PM I got it right.
