Replacement Screw for Sl-1600 feet & other questions

Hi all! I recently ordered some isolation feet for my SL-1600 MK1. They came with the completely wrong screw to install them. I was playing around with some different screws and found that the #6 screws sort of work, but not perfect. I somewhat stripped one of the holes with a #8 screw, but that hole still works with the original hardware, just not the #6 screw.

I have some concerns because when I installed the feet with #6 screws it bypassed the suspension system and turned the deck into a solid piece, and I wasn’t able to push down the platter any as it normally works. The cueing mechanism was acting weird. It almost seemed as if some of the parts were under stress. I think that the screws I cut could have been too long. However, I feel that the isolation feet made a noticeable improvement to sound and want to continue to use them. Can anyone who is familiar with this suspension system guide me through what is happening? Could I just glue the new feet on the bottom of the old and have the same sound improvements?

Onto the screw, I need to know the exact screw to replace the original. I fear the #6 will cause issues. I’m also weary of that stripped hole and am considering installing a heilcore thread repair.

I’m really struggling here. I’ve brought the screw to two hardware stores and no match. Does anyone know about using the heilcore thread repair kits?
 
You need a Japanese local hardware store. Most US hardware stores won't have a broad enough range to have obscure threaded screws from a 40-yr old Japanese turntable.

But it should be a standard Japanese screw thread. Hopefully you can find some.
 
As to a helicoil, they rely on opening the hole and rethreading to allow a coil to be threaded in place that has the replacement/wanted threads

But using some internally threaded insert glued in place with good old JBWeld should do a fine job of holding feet threaded in for decades to come.

The insert I might consider has a knurled diamond pattern on the outside and would allow using readily available bolts to hold the feet.

i’ll look into it. Now I’m concerned because it seems that the spring suspension isn’t going to work with these feet, unless I modify them. Would the new isolation feet still be doing their job if I simply sat the turntable on top of them?
 
I have my Technics SL-1600mk2 here, all original, and I have a metric thread pitch gauge, micrometers and calipers. What do you want to know exactly?
 
Yeah, I suppose one could merely set the Table upon the feet. I could imagine setting the stock feet upon the new feet would be a bit goofy in looks, and maybe even quite wobbly too.

They look like an attractive replacement, I bought a set for one of my Denon Tables a few months back.

I haven't played with these new feet I have yet, but Is there any possibility that these footers can accept a larger diameter screw in the required length you need? Simply re-tap the holes to the required sized machine thread.

I've often seen in auto parts stores like O'Reillys-A-Zone Taps that come with the required Drill Bit size, about $6 or so.
