Replacement transisters

Quick question. I've been lead to believe that the best replacements for the

C933 is the 2N2222A. And the C1740 is the 2N5551? The pins on the board shows pinout B-C-E for the C933 and C1740 but the 2N2222 and the 2N5551 are E-C-B

I have both thesr transisters so can just swap the legs but are there any direct drop ins for these?

I ask as there are 2 C933s And 2 C1740s giving readings that they should'nt

B-E 0.198 B-C 0.198 E-C 0.198. Respectively between all transisters.

You mean 2SA933, right?
I would use..

2SA933 ---> KSA733C or KSA1015 (I guess they quit making these too.)
2SC1740 --->KSC945C or KSC1815

If you don't need the current capacity, KSA992 / KSC1845.

The Transister only has A933 LRE on it. The flat part is grey. Cheers will see if I have them.

2SA1015s & 2SC1815s
Cheeper and readily available.

Did you order from a legit source? Hopefully not counterfeits!

I think I had this same transistor fail on a JVC R-X950 pre-driver board. IIRC, it was leaky or something. It gave a weird diode test. Right channel was badly distorted, Relacing it fixed it.

Ordered from I guy I bought from a few times so hopefully they are legit.

I only found these where dead as the lights and buttons on the front panel not working so checking the main board transistors I found these failed.

Still need to track down why no power to the selection board. JvC AX444BK
