Replacement tweeters for KEF

Can anybody point me to the right direction for replacement tweeters on the KEF Reference 104/2. The notorious KEF T33 is finally gave up on me :tears:and I know there are several posts about this but the VIFA and the Morel models mentioned are no longer available, furthermore, they were not the same specs as the KEF's T33 so should I still look for them used?

I need the help from the AK experts on what is the best replacement tweeters for this speaker.

May be that the Audax soft domes may be good, were used in plenty of other KEF speakers (HD 1000 D25 in Celeste's) have one in front of me as I write!

Celeste's seem to go quite cheaply
 
As Radfordman points out, the 4 ohm Audax softdome looks to be a good fit as well as have very similar specs as the T33. Keep us posted as to the results. Good Luck.
 
Agreed. I believe my C30's also have the Audax tweeters. Nothing whatsoever wrong with the way they sound.
 
Thanks Radfordman and Tubed. Is there a model number for the said Audax? Any other suggestion from other members, has anyone tried the Audex on the KEF 104/2and if you did, opinions, is this a perfect fit physically and eletrically?
 
I did quote the model, that is for round flange ones, rectangular flange have a different number.

The ones in my Celestes are 8 Ohm tweeters.

Audax have made good soft dome tweeters for many years, used in Radfords, Spendor etc. etc.
 
I'd say look for used T-33s on ebay. They don't sell for that much compared to the T27. And apart from compatibility of the driver, why not keep the units original?

It might also not be a bad idea to contact KEF for a source to repair (recoil) the damaged T33. Although you might have to ship the tweeter to the UK.
 
From what I've read the original T33 for these speakers are short of expectation and not quite up to par to the rest of the speakers. I was quite satisfied with the sound of the original drivers, however, now that 1 of them is expired I rather then replace them with better drivers.

They are 4ohms and 92 db. sensitivity, can I go with 8 ohms with different sensitivity rating without modify the crossover circuitry? I like to have a drop-in replacement if possible, thanks to all.
 
Ideally, a replacement tweeter other than the T33 should have the same sensitivity and nominal impedance (4 Ohm)

I do not know the specs for the Audax soft dome tweeters. However, the 8 Ohm (nominal) Audax's are common, not so sure about 4 Ohm.

However, in practice, putting an 8 Ohm tweeter where a 4 Ohm one was, often gives acceptable results.

If the tweeter was too loud, one could then add a parallel resistor and that would bring the nominal impedance closer to 4 Ohms.
