Replacing a blown JBL woofer

Dual Minded

New Member
Hope I'm posting this in the right place, thanks for any help in advance --

I've got a pair of JBL ES10 speakers I use for surround sound in my HT setup. One of them blew out its woofer.

JBL doesn't offer any support or replacement parts, and it seems like a shame to toss the whole thing out when just the woofer needs replacement.

The service manual lists the part I need as "Low-Frequency Transducer 10NR80BAK-FW04-E" but none are popping up on ebay or elsewhere for the last year.

Does anyone know of a replacement that would fit? It's a 4 inch woofer. It's just for surround sound, so I don't need it to be the exact original part, just a comparable woofer. I emailed simplyspeakers and some other outlets about this, and they referred me to the forums.

thanks again!

Maybe try Parts-Express, they sell a lot of drivers and may be able to help you choose a replacement. Although you may want to change both woofers if you want balanced sound.
Otherwise set up an alert on ebay, they will notify when any are listed.

Agreed. I'll go one step further and recommend that you join the Parts Express tech-talk forum. There are people there (including some PE employees, I believe) who can make this sort of recommendations.
