Replacing a Sansui G8000's speaker connections question

I am going to replace the speaker connections with new binding posts and I have read to use plexiglass for mounting the binding posts. Does anyone know what thickness of plexiglass would be adequate for this? Thanks alot and Merry Xmas.

I personally would use 1/4"; as 1/8th is a bit to thin to support the work because of its flexibility.
