Replacing Akai Cassette Deck Belts - Questions

I'm replacing the belts on my Akai GXC-725D cassette deck. The deck is in beautiful shape, but won't rewind, only fast-forwards and occasionally, I think I can hear the tape slow. Plays OK most of the time.

I am hoping new belts will take care of it.

I bought a new set of belts from Vintage-Electronics. The fly-wheel belt matches perfectly, but the pulley belt is considerably thinner in diameter (thickness of the belt) than the original. Is it typical for new belts to be different like this?

Should I lubricate anything while I'm changing the belts? I was going to clean the rubber on the pulley wheels with a rubber cleaner I use on my RTR's.... Should I oil or lube any of the pulley's or just leave it alone?

Thanks for the help. This is my first attempt at repairing a cassette deck. Appreciate the comments and advice on this repair.
