Replacing glass windows on Pioneer Spec-4 VU Meter

I bought my spec-4 with a crack in both VU meter windows. Luckily, the VU meters themselves are actually encased in a clear (acrylic?) case and can use the spec-4 without the glass windows.

I've removed the broken glass, but I'm having difficulty finding a source for glass this small (2" x 4" x 1/8"). Seems like every keyword combo I use in Google yields home window or auto glass replacement search results.

Is there anyone in the AudioKarma universe who is reading this that could point me to replacement glass for this application or have a recommendation for a place that can cut some custom pieces in the afore-mentioned dimensions?

As a bonus, I'd covet recommendations for a glue I can use to secure the glass to the housing. The original glue looks like old Elmer's glue, but I'm sure that's not what I should use.

Appreciation in advance for anyone able to point me in the right direction.

Any local window glass shop should be able to do that for you, something that small should be almost free (they can probably use scraps they were going to throw out anyway).

check your local frame shops too.
they always have a lot of scrap pieces.
picture glass is a little better clarity
than window or car glass.

The glue to use is RTV. But not the vinegar smelling stuff. You want the special kind made for aquariums. It doesn't outgas so won't hurt the delicate meters. It is also good for gluing glass in VOMs and VTVMs, etc.

Thanks, fellas. I appreciate the feedback. I'll pick up some aquarium RTV and look around for a glass shop. A frame shop is a really good idea, too.

Is there any reason you would not use plastic? You can get small panels from big box stores and even cut it yourself if you want. Glass stores often do plexi as well.

The original windows are glass. I'm obsessive about originality. I would love to find an original faceplate from a spec-4 that someone is parting out and either swaps faceplates or swap windows, but I've given up on that.

I would think that plastic would be easy to scratch.
