Replacing my Polk Monitor 7s with something smaller. Suggestions?

If you want to keep similar to the KLH 6's but in a smaller presentation, their best smaller speaker is probably the Model 17. Same beautiful sound but just not as big. 32's are just a bit on the small side. 24's are also nice but not quite as nice as the 17's.
I have a chance to pick up a pair of KLH 17. Right now I own a pair of Polk 7b with the good Tweeter. Will the 17s be a step up or should I stick with the Polks.
I believe both will need to be recapped. The polks are 4 ohm and the KLH are 8.

The polks are really good speakers. The KLH 17 are lovely speakers. Just different with the Polks having a more modern design and drivers.

Double check the impedance rating on the Polk Audio Monitor 7's, I don't think that 4 ohms is correct.

Wow i’ve had them for about two years now and I always thought there were 4 ohm. I guess I’ll have to look into that a little more. If that’s the case I may want to get those KLH 17 and drive both sets with my Pioneer SX 1250. Do you think it can handle both sets of speakers.

The Polk's are 6 ohm nominal.

Why on earth would you want to run 2 sets of speakers together? Nothing says ghetto quite like it. Not to mention it won't sound good.

Save some money get a pair of Polk RTi A3's. I have a pair and they are amazing. They have everything thing my Polk Monitor 10B's have except the extreme bottom end, below 50 Hz, and I have a Klipsch subwoofer for that. If you wish you can bi-amp these speakers. They are designed to be hung on a wall if you wish. Polk has them on sale right now for $239.99 a pair. Here is a Stereophile review. I have been a huge fan of Polk Audio speakers for 30 years.

Here is where I purchased mine, and I am thinking about getting a second pair.

If you are looking for a floor standing speaker there is the RTi A7. Been talking to fellow Polkies on this speaker and they tell me this is a good replacement for my 10B's, they have a bottom end of 20 Hz, and can handle 300 watts, they are on sale for $600 Dollars a pair. The towers are 42" high.
I will point out again I have been a customer of Crutchfield for 42 years.

Vintage Polks are all 6 ohms. The modern Polks are 8 ohms.
